# ILC (ILoveConversion)

> ILC is a free, open-source web app for converting, compressing and creating files. In local mode (the default) images and audio are processed directly in the browser and never uploaded. Online mode handles everything else on CNS Studios' server with AES-256-GCM encrypted uploads: the original is deleted as soon as processing ends and the result after 1 hour. No signup, no tracking, no ads.

- **Remove image backgrounds** with an AI model (online, outputs transparent PNG or WEBP).
- **Compress images**: JPEG, PNG (palette quantization) and WEBP on the device; other formats online, with optional lossless mode.

- **Create QR codes** for URLs, text, geographic locations and WiFi networks, entirely in the browser.

## Privacy

- Local mode: files stay in the browser. Processing uses the Canvas, Web Worker and Web Audio APIs; no file data is sent over the network.
- If a file can't be handled locally (unsupported format, larger than 50 MB / 50 megapixels for images or 25 MB for audio), ILC asks before uploading it.
- Online mode: uploads are encrypted at rest and processed in RAM. The original upload is deleted as soon as processing finishes or fails; the result is deleted after 1 hour.
